Software Company Partners with Food Bank to Provide Summer Meals

Hunger is a year-round problem, but summertime is even more difficult for Central Texans in need. While some families are planning their summer vacations, families at risk of hunger face difficult choices as they struggle to meet their basic needs.

One in five Central Texas kids face hunger and during the summer, children no longer have access to free or reduced-price school meals. Additionally, higher utility bills put an even bigger strain on families and seniors, making money for nourishing food hard to come by.

That’s why our “Summer Meals that Matter” campaign is crucial to helping families struggling to make ends meet. The goal of the campaign is to raise 1 million meals for our most vulnerable neighbors —kids, seniors and families.

But we can’t do it alone. Epicor has collaborated with the Food Bank this summer to help us reach our goal by helping provide 20,000 meals for food-insecure families.

“More Central Texas families face hunger now than at any other time of the year. That’s why we’re honored to have Epicor alongside our team helping us feed the nearly 440,000 Central Texans in need. Their partnership helps us provide nutritious food during a time when families are at greater risk,” Food Bank CEO & President Derrick Chubbs said.

Epicor’s generosity helps support our Summer Food Service Program, which provides free, healthy breakfasts, lunches and snacks for kids in need. With help from volunteers and supporters like Epicor, we’re able to prepare nearly 4,000 meals and snacks each day to help meet the higher need during the summer.

“It’s important to Epicor that we give back to our community. The partnership with CTFB helps support our mission of creating a company culture that values and respects our employees and the community we serve,” Epicor CEO Steve Murphy said.

Our partnership with Epicor goes beyond this summer. Last year, the software company joined the Food Bank to share hope during the holidays by helping provide 20,000 meals for Central Texans facing hunger. Thanks to Epicor, families were able to have a memorable holiday season.

“Epicor appreciates the partnership with CTFB because it allows us to serve the community where we live and work and it allows our employees to work together in a different environment than our typical day-to-day,” Steve said.

In addition to Epicor’s generosity, their employees are always eager to take action in the fight against hunger. They have been volunteering at the Food Bank since 2013, serving hundreds of hours helping ensure the quality of the food leaving the Food Bank and getting it ready for distribution.

“Epicor has also taken an active role in the fight against hunger. For six years, Epicor employees have generously donated their time to help us get food out of our doors. We could not do it without dedicated volunteers like them,” Derrick said.

It takes help from our community to nourish hungry families and we’re grateful for Epicor’s partnership to help us during our highest times of need. Thanks, Epicor!
