Keller Williams Annual Food Drive Breaks Record with 14,300 Meals Collected

Sep29

It wasn’t even noon yet on a Saturday morning, but the scorching heat kept those outside in the shade. It was a seemingly typical Texas summer day, but not for Keller Williams Realty agents.

What started as a quiet morning at Riverbend Church soon turned into a sea of red shirts forming an assembly line as a car stopped in the parking lot and opened their trunk to reveal bags filled with non-perishable food items.

One car after another stopped by to drop off food for the 23rd Annual Keller Williams Realty Food Drive benefiting the Food Bank.

Thanks to our community and Keller Williams, this year more than 14,400 pounds of food were collected during the food drive and 2,300 meals were raised through Keller Williams’ virtual food drive.

That’s a total of more than 14,300 meals for families facing hunger in Central Texas.

“Keller Williams’ belief system and culture is to give back in the communities we serve. It’s the foundation of who we have been for the past 30 years,” Keller Williams Realty agent Megan Parkovich said.  “Partnering with the Central Texas Food Bank offers one more way for our agents and offices to give back.”

Though all the food is dropped off on a single day, Keller Williams begins their efforts months before.

Agents distributed 10,500 bags across neighborhoods in Austin encouraging neighbors to fill them with healthy non-perishable food items for the Central Texas Food Bank. About a month after distributing the bags, agents pick them up and drop off the donations.

The 23-year old tradition allows the agents to give back to the community they serve. Each year, more and more Food Bank boxes are filled with donations that help the nearly 46,000 clients the Food Bank serves each week.

“We love the Central Texas Food Bank!” Megan said. “Myself and my agents look forward to this event every year. Thank you for letting us be a part of it!”

We are grateful for all the help our neighbors provide to make sure that all families in Central Texas have a meal on their table.
