Donate Fresh Produce from your Garden!

May19

Do you have a garden full of fresh produce with more than you need? Well you can donate it to the Food Bank and help families get healthy, fresh produce. Follow these easy steps to donate from your garden:

1. Choose the fresh produce you would like to donate to the Food Bank. Our families love getting any type of fresh vegetables to make soups and stews for their families. Fruits are also very popular with children. They love snacking on fruit!

2. Pick healthy produce that is close to being ripe.

3. Depending on what you are harvesting, cut away or pull the produce. Look out for any yellowing or rotting. Remove any areas that are not suitable to eat.

4. Gather all the produce and give it a good rinse. We want familes to get the best, fresh produce possible.

5. Grab a container or a bag  that you are comfortable leaving at the Food Bank and place the fresh produce in it.

6. Load your donation into your car and get ready to drop it off at the Food Bank.

7. When you get to the Food Bank, go through the Burleson Road entrance where you will see a gate. This is the dock area where donations can be dropped off. If you come in through the front, main entrance, you will be redirected to the Burleson Road entrance of the Food Bank.

8. Look for the docks and back in your car. Walk in through the open dock doors and a Food Bank staff member will be there to assist you.

9. Your donation will be weighed and you will be given a receipt for it. We will store the produce in our cooler until it's ready to be distributed to families facing hunger in Central Texas. Thank you!
