4 Ways to Get Involved for Hunger Action Month

Sep01

Get Involved During Hunger Action Month!

If this your first time joining us, Hunger Action Month is a nationwide initiative created and led by Feeding America. Every September, the Feeding America network—of which we are a part—raises awareness about the issue of hunger in America through this campaign. You’ll see a lot of orange this month—and while we love the Longhorns as much as the next Austinite—don’t get confused! We wear orange this month because it is the color of hunger relief. So be sure to wear your brightest shades of orange and show your support for our neighbors in need!

Here are a few other ways you can show your support this month…

  1. Virtual Food Drive
Host your very own virtual food drive! Instead of collecting cans and boxes of food, virtual food drives collect funds. Every dollar raised creates 4 meals for those in need, so every penny goes a long way! Start a virtual food drive at your workplace and spread the mission of the Food Bank among your co-workers and share it across your social networks with friends and family.

  2. Volunteer
There is nothing more rewarding than donating your time and presence. Our volunteers are the heart and soul of the Food Bank. Check out our volunteer sign up page and register to volunteer at one of our mobile food pantries. Be a part of the rewarding experience of distributing food directly to your neighbors in need.

  3. Register to Vote
Speak up with your vote! Advocacy is an important part of the fight to end hunger. The Texas General Election is November 8th and the deadline to register is October 11th! Here’s where you can go to make sure you’re registered.

  4. Toolkit
The easiest way to take action—spread the message on social media! Head to our Hunger Action Month website to download our toolkit and help us get the word out.
