All volunteers contribute to our mission and our community. The Central Texas Food Bank offers opportunities for eligible individuals to volunteer and fulfill court-appointed, pre-trial diversion or probation service hours.
Before registering for a volunteer shift, please review the eligibility requirements and instructions below.
Step 1: Determine Your Eligibility
To complete court-ordered community service hours with the Central Texas Food Bank, you must confirm your specific charge so we can determine whether you are eligible to volunteer.
We cannot host volunteers completing court-ordered hours for any of the following charges:
- Sexual offenses
- Assault, domestic violence or other violent offenses
- Felonies
- Prostitution
- Tampering with consumer products
- Burglary or theft involving weapons
- Robbery
- Stalking
- Manslaughter
- Animal cruelty
- Any offenses against children
- Terroristic threats
Step 2: Review Age Requirements
If you are under age 18 and need to complete community service hours, an adult age 21 or older must volunteer with you.
You and your adult chaperone must each create your own volunteer account and register for the volunteer shift.
Step 3: Select Your Type of Community Service
Requirements vary depending on the program or court through which you are completing your service. Select the option that applies to you below.

Volunteering
Register and sign up for an available volunteer shift designated for Travis County Adult Probation.
Register for a TCAP Volunteer Shift
You may complete community service hours by volunteering in our Warehouse, Kitchen, Farm or Market. Only hours worked in one of these programs are eligible for community service credit with Travis County Adult Probation.
You will not receive TCAP credit for Mobile Food Pantry or other volunteer program hours.
Donating Instead of Completing Hours
You may be able to donate funds in lieu of completing community service hours. To do so, you must be in compliance with the terms of your probation, and your probation officer must initiate a referral for you to become eligible.
Please talk with your probation officer to determine whether you qualify.
If you have been approved by your probation officer, you may make your donation online.
Donations are not refundable.
Cash donations may take up to one month to process and confirm. If you are concerned about timing, please make your donation online.
We report donations to Travis County Adult Probation weekly. Because of this, there may be a delay between when you make your donation and when your probation officer sees it.
Verifying Your Hours
Hours completed in our Warehouse, Kitchen, Farm and Market are tracked through your volunteer account.
We report eligible volunteer hours to Travis County Adult Probation weekly. Because of this, there may be a delay between when you complete your hours and when your probation officer sees them.
You will not receive TCAP credit for Mobile Pantry or other off-site volunteer hours.
Leaving a Shift Early
The Central Texas Food Bank does not award partial credit if you leave a volunteer shift before being dismissed by Food Bank staff.
Please only register for shifts that you can attend from start to finish.

Volunteering
If you are completing community service hours through a court system other than Travis County Adult Probation, through a pre-trial diversion program or through another program requiring mandated community service, register for an available Court-Appointed Community Service volunteer shift.

Donating Instead of Completing Hours
You may be able to donate funds in lieu of completing community service hours. Please talk with your lawyer, judge or other community service contact to determine whether this is permitted for your specific requirements.
If your community service contact has approved a monetary donation, you may donate online.
Make a Community Service Donation
Donations are not refundable.
After making an online donation, you will receive an emailed receipt stating the amount you donated. You may provide this receipt to your community service contact as documentation.
Please note: The dollar-to-hours conversion is determined by your court or community service contact, not by the Central Texas Food Bank.
