More than two million twinkling lights will transform Zilker Park into a holiday wonderland for the 53rd Annual Austin Trail of Lights from Saturday, December 9, through Saturday, December 23. The event features 40 light displays, at least 20 food vendors, a 90-foot Ferris wheel, four light tunnels, two music stages and more.
This year’s event includes Arctic Point, a new seating area perfect for a photo opportunity featuring the Pennybacker Bridge, a Surfing Santa display and twice as many lights at the final tunnel, Starry Night. The two-week attraction will also include local music acts, special community nights and special celebrations. You can find more information here.
This year, attendees are encouraged to bring a healthy non-perishable food item to donate to the Food Bank. The Trail of Lights Foundation’s goal is to collect 25,000 meals to help feed 6,000 families facing hunger in Central Texas. Look for the Central Texas Food Bank boxes at the park.
