The Central Texas Food Bank (CTFB) is expanding its ability to deliver fresh, nutritious food with the arrival of a new refrigerated truck and additional operating support. This gift, made possible through a partnership with the Darden Restaurants, Inc. Foundation and Penske, strengthens CTFB’s cold-chain capacity, helping move more fresh produce, dairy, and proteins to neighbors across Central Texas.
“As food costs remain high and more Central Texans struggle with food insecurity, corporations have a unique opportunity to step up in meaningful ways,” said Sari M. Vaske, President + CEO of the Central Texas Food Bank. “Financial support is vital, but material contributions – like providing equipment, transportation, or food products – can transform how quickly and effectively we connect communities with nutritious food. Every resource helps us expand food access.”
For the fifth consecutive year, the Darden Restaurants, Inc. Foundation and Penske have joined forces during Hunger Action Month to support communities facing food insecurity. CTFB is one of nine Feeding America partner food banks benefiting from this national initiative.
“Hunger remains a widespread issue that touches lives in every corner of our country,” said Stephanie Ghertner, Executive Director of the Darden Restaurants, Inc. Foundation. “By partnering with Feeding America member food banks, we’re not just raising awareness – we’re providing the resources needed to help families access the food they deserve.”
We’re proud to be part of a nationwide effort to strengthen food distribution. Across the Feeding America network, partners like Darden Restaurants are making investments that help ensure families everywhere have access to fresh food.
