Food puns come to life at Half Price Books annual Austin Edible Book Festival, a literary potluck where participants use their culinary skills to craft edible pun-versions of book titles. Past winners include “Game of Scones”, “True Grits”, and “20,000 Big League Chews Under the Sea”.
Attendees can enter to win funniest entry, most appetizing, least appetizing, best construction, and best in show for a chance to win bragging rights and gift cards. The event is on April 1 at Half Price Books at 7 p.m. All entries must be ready by 7:30 p.m. to be eligible for voting.
Healthy non-perishable food donations will be accepted at the event. The book festival also kicks off a month long food drive at Half Price Books. Stop by to drop off our client’s most requested items:
- peanut butter
- canned chicken breast or tuna
- canned low sodium vegetables
- canned fruit in its own juice (no sugar added)
- dry pinto beans
- brown rice
- non-fat dry milk powder
- 100 percent whole grain cereal
