This month, we’re proud to celebrate Alice Tisdale, our Team Member of the Month at the Central Texas Food Bank (CTFB). Nominated for the values of Service and Collaboration, Alice brings warmth, clarity, and a roll‑up‑your‑sleeves spirit to everything she does — making her an indispensable partner across the organization.
From Volunteer to Nonprofit Career Leader
Alice joined the Central Texas Food Bank in January 2023 as a Development Operations Coordinator and stepped into the role of Development Operations Manager in August 2025. Her journey reflects how a volunteer experience can grow into a meaningful nonprofit career rooted in purpose.
“My very first interaction with the food bank was volunteering while I worked at a previous place, and I had always remembered the great feelings that I had when I came to volunteer...”
“...Our volunteer team does a great job of explaining a lot about the impact that your volunteer hours make for the community and for the organization. And so when I was at a previous organization and looking for my next steps, I had seen a listing at this organization and thought, no matter what it is, I hope I'm a fit because I would love to work here because of the great reputation that this org has in our community. And luckily, it was a job that I could do and I enjoyed. And it all worked out,” she said cheerfully.
That early experience continues to shape how Alice shows up for her team and the broader organization — with empathy, purpose, and an appreciation for the behind‑the‑scenes work that powers food access across Central Texas.
The Heart of Development Operations and Fundraising Data
Development Operations plays a critical role in connecting generosity to impact. As part of the fundraising team at one of the largest food banks in Texas, Alice helps ensure every gift is accurately processed, reported, and stewarded.
“Development Operations is the data management side of fundraising,” Alice explained. “We have a financial team that handles all of the incoming money. We have a fundraising team that raises the money. And then in between, we have to have somebody that makes sure all the money comes in, gets reported accurately.”
A key part of that work is stewardship — making sure every donor feels seen, valued, and appreciated.
“We have a full-time team member that's devoted to generating a paper acknowledgement thank you letter for every gift that we receive via paper here at the food bank. And we match our donors' love languages. So, if they like to give electronically, we thank them electronically. If they like to give with pen and paper on a check or cash in hand, we thank them that way.”
Collaboration in Action at a Leading Central Texas Nonprofit
Alice was nominated for her exceptional shared CTFB value of collaboration, particularly during the busiest time of year. As one nominator shared:
“Alice brings a candid, welcoming energy to everything she does and consistently shows up ready to roll up her sleeves — often being one of the first to jump in and one of the last to step away. During a period of significant volume — including an influx of gifts tied to the government shutdown and the holiday season — her ability to mobilize people, maintain accuracy, and keep morale high was no small feat. [She has a] natural ability to engage people across the organization and bring out the best in those around her. She truly makes collaboration feel both effective and energizing.”
Alice’s impact is felt all around the building as she is often one of the first team members to volunteer when other departments need help. If you visit our Austin headquarters, there’s a chance you may be greeted by her friendly smile and cheerful demeanor when filling in for our lobby receptionist.
Proud to Work at Central Texas Food Bank
For Alice, working for CTFB has been a major pride point not only among the people she works with, but the community CTFB serves.
“You tell somebody you work for the food bank out in the real world and you're instantly a celebrity because our community loves this institution,” she said. “It's really, humbling to say that, yeah, I'm a part of it.”
We’re grateful for the care, leadership, and collaborative spirit Alice brings to CTFB every day. Congratulations to our Team Member of the Month — and thank you for making tomorrow possible.
