Military and Veterans Programs

CTFB mobile food distribution at Fort Hood

Serving those who serve — and those who have served.

Central Texas has a deep connection to our military community, and while we’re saddened the need exists, it is an honor to serve those who serve our country—and those who have served. We works to make nutritious food accessible through the places and organizations they already know and trust.

Supporting active-duty service members and their families

Central Texas is home to one of the country’s largest military installations, with nearly 40,000 Soldiers at Fort Hood alone. For service members and their families, food access can be affected by the realities of military life, including deployments, relocations and the demands of military service.

We bring food closer to where military families live and serve. Through mobile distributions, on-site pantry partnerships and other community-based programs, we help make reliable food access part of the support network for military families.
Supporting veterans in our community

Serving our military community doesn’t end when someone leaves active duty. Veterans and their families are an important part of Central Texas, and we work with organizations that provide trusted, accessible support close to home.

Through partnerships with organizations such as the Armed Services YMCA Killeen and other community-based providers, we help supply food for veteran and military-family food pantries. The ASYMCA Killeen, for example, operates its Five Star Food Market in Harker Heights and downtown Killeen, providing groceries to eligible active-duty and veteran families.
