Who We Are
Working together for a Central Texas where everyone can access nutritious food.
The Central Texas Food Bank (CTFB) is the largest hunger-relief organization serving Central Texas. We are a proud member of the Feeding America network and Feeding Texas, a state-wide association of Texas Feeding America food banks.
Found in 1981 with the belief that no one should experience hunger, that commitment continues to guide us today. Hunger may feel the same, but the solutions necessary to address it have evolved. While nutritious food distribution will always be at the heart of our work, we are also addressing the barriers that make it harder for people to consistently access the food they need.
Our Vision
All Central Texans have what they need to thrive, starting with access to nutritious food.
Our Mission
The Central Texas Food Bank increases food access by providing nutritious food, leading hunger and poverty advocacy efforts, and transforming lives through programs, education, and innovative solutions.
Our Values
Service
We place service above all else; it’s our North Star. We put the community’s needs before our own, have a “first in, last out” mindset, have a “get to yes” philosophy, and execute our mission in a way that puts our neighbors at the center of all we do.
Integrity
We always do the right thing even when it’s hard or no one is looking. We act with honesty, behave in a way that earns trust, and are accountable to the community.
Dignity
We honor the worth of every individual, treating people with respect and compassion. We foster a welcoming and judgment-free environment; we meet people where they are, and we serve equitably.
Collaboration
We believe that collaboration is at the heart of what we do because we believe there is a seat at the table for everyone. We seek partnerships while avoiding duplication, we leverage the collective strengths of our internal and external stakeholders, and we believe many hands make light work.
Innovation
We are bold, curious, and creative industry leaders who believe in building a better tomorrow while also responding to the needs of today. We believe in continuous improvement and challenging the status quo, while also stewarding resources efficiently and impactfully.
Who We Serve
The people who turn to the Central Texas Food Bank and our community partners come from all walks of life. They are:
- Working families struggling to put food on the table.
- Older adults living on fixed incomes.
- College students balancing school and expenses.
- Military families and veterans.
- People between jobs or adjusting to a change in income.
- Anyone who needs a little extra help with food.
And food assistance looks different in every community.
Central Texas includes big cities, growing suburbs, and rural communities. What works in Austin may look different from what works in Waco, Killeen or a small town.
That’s why we provide a variety of programs and work with local organizations and communities throughout our 21-county service area to help make nutritious food easier to access, wherever you call home.
