Older Adults
Ensuring the health and well-being of older adults is a cornerstone of our mission at the Central Texas Food Bank (CTFB). We offer a range of tailored food assistance programs designed to meet the unique nutritional needs of older adults, promoting their health and independence.
Help With SNAP
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), is a federal program that provides extra money for groceries each month for qualified households. SNAP benefits are deposited onto an EBT card that can be used at most grocery stores and farmers markets.
Healthy Options Program for the Elderly (HOPE)
HOPE aims to reduce hunger among low-income adults aged 60 or older by providing free monthly distributions of healthy, shelf-stable foods. Each month, participants receive a 15- to 20-pound bag of non-perishable groceries, including items like canned fruits and vegetables, canned protein, cereal, and pasta.
Eligibility: Adults aged 60 or older.
How to Enroll: Interested individuals can attend a HOPE distribution site to sign up. If you're unable to attend in person, you can designate a proxy to pick up your food on your behalf.
Golden Harvest Market
Golden Harvest Market is a program designed to bring fresh, nutritious food directly to older adults in a welcoming, market-style setting. Through this program, participants can select produce and groceries that meet their needs, helping them maintain access to healthy food while stretching their budgets.
More than a food distribution, Golden Harvest Market creates space for connection — bringing people together in a way that supports both well-being and community.
