Children’s Programs
Helping kids grow, learn and thrive.
Proper nutrition is vital for a child's growth, learning, and overall well-being. Central Texas Food Bank (CTFB) offers a variety of programs to ensure children have access to healthy meals beyond the school cafeteria.
Afterschool Meals
Also known as the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), this federal program ensures children receive the nutritious meals they need in safe, supervised afterschool environments. Through partnerships with organizations like the Parks and Recreation Department (PARD), churches, libraries, and schools, CTFB helps provide balanced dinners and snacks to support the health and wellness of children at risk of food insecurity. Our Culinary team prepares fresh, nourishing meals that fuel kids beyond the school day.
What It Offers: Free meals coupled with activities such as homework assistance, physical activities, and enrichment programs.
Eligibility: Children enrolled in participating after-school programs.
How to Access: Contact your child's school or local community center to inquire about participation in the program.
College Hunger
Higher education should be a time of learning and opportunity — not hunger. Through our College Hunger program, we partner with colleges, universities, and campus food pantries to build sustainable food systems that ensure all students have access to the nourishment they need to thrive in their education.
What it Offers: Partnerships with campus food pantries and sustainable food solutions for students.
Distribution: College students facing food insecurity.
How to Access: Check with your school’s food pantry or student services office to see if your campus participates.
School Pantry Program
Launched in 2024, the Feeding Futures School Pantry Program (FFSPP) brings food directly to Title I schools with high free and reduced-price meal enrollments. By setting up on-site food pantries, this program provides nutritious groceries and essential resources for students and their families — helping ensure children can access healthy meals beyond school hours, including weekends, summer breaks, and holidays.
Each student receives approximately 30 meals per month, creating a stable and reliable source of food.
What It Offers: Access to non-perishable food items and fresh produce right on campus.
Availability: Select schools across our service area.
How to Access: Inquire at your child's school to see if they have an on-site pantry.
Summer Meals
During summer breaks, when school meals are unavailable, our Summer Food Service Program ensures children continue to receive nutritious meals. Children ages 18 and younger throughout our service area can get free, nutritious breakfasts, lunches, and snacks at sites across the 21 Central Texas counties we serve.
What It Provides: Nutritious breakfasts, lunches, and snacks.
Who It's For: Children ages 18 and younger.
