Central Texas Food Bank, Central Health-funded CommUnityCare, and Texas Capital Bank Team Up for Special Event at Creedmoor Community Center
Austin, TX, September 25– The Central Texas Food Bank, Central Health-funded CommUnityCare Health Centers, and Texas Capital Bank have teamed up for a special Creedmoor Community Resource Fair to be held on Tuesday, October 1, from 8 -11 a.m. at the Creedmoor Community Center, 12511 FM 1625, Creedmoor, TX, 78610.
The event will give area residents the opportunity to receive free groceries from the Food Bank’s Mobile Food Pantry, primary medical care services from the CommUnityCare Mobile Clinic, and financial literacy services from Texas Capital Bank’s Mobile Center. A similar event in July at the Turner-Roberts Recreation Center served more than 130 households.
“1 in 7 Central Texans can’t be sure where their next meal will come from,” said Derrick Chubbs, President & CEO of the Central Texas Food Bank. “That’s why we look for every opportunity to reach out to our neighbors in need. And when you can work with such great partners on an event like this to provide even more services to folks in an underserved area, it makes a huge difference.”
By taking the food directly to clients, the Food Bank’s Mobile Food Pantries fill geographic and service gaps in food assistance by providing Central Texans in need with basic staples, fruits and vegetables, and frozen foods where local food assistance services cannot keep up with demand. Last year, the Mobile Pantry program provided more than 3.1 million pounds of food to an average of 16,216 individuals per month.
CommUnityCare Health Centers will be at the event with their Mobile Clinic, which was purchased by Central Health, providing primary care services, including lab, chronic disease management, and women’s health. Alan Schalscha, CommUnityCare Chief Medical Officer, said that environmental factors have a big impact on one’s health. “The usual understanding is that a health care provider only determines about 10% of a person’s health. The rest is life and social determinants of health, which is why collaborations like this with financial institutions and the Food Bank, help support communities to become healthier in all aspects of their lives.”

With our new 40-foot mobile unit, we can bring care closer to residents of Colony Park and Creedmoor so they can have a better chance of living healthier lives.”

The Texas Capital Bank Mobile Center is a custom-made community service vehicle that travels through Texas providing financial literacy education and disaster recovery. The Mobile Center illustrates Texas Capital’s longstanding belief in corporate social responsibility and determination to serve the community. Outfitted with the technology-based Financial Instructional Tools (FIT) curriculum, the Mobile Center provides customizable financial education for all ages and stages of life, helping individuals reach their financial goals and break the cycle of poverty.
To receive food, event attendees will be asked to fill out a basic indicating they need help with food. They should also consider bringing a food cart or several reusable bags to take their food home in.
