Proceeds Will Provide More than 890,000 Meals for Those in Need
Austin, TX – October 22, 2019 – The organizers of Austin Restaurant Weeks, presented by Tito’s® Handmade Vodka, have announced that the event raised a grand total of $223,282 in its second year as a fundraising event for the Central Texas Food Bank. This means that the event will help the Food Bank provide 893,128 meals for Central Texans in need, far exceeding last year’s total of 555,000 meals. The announcement was made at a reception at Easy Tiger’s Linc location Tuesday, October 22.
Austin Restaurant Weeks 2019 was held from August 15 – September 2, when 130 Austin-area restaurants, bars and breweries featured specially-priced lunches, brunches, dinners and beverages, with a portion of the cost of each meal or drink going directly to the Central Texas Food Bank.
“We’re thrilled that Austin Restaurant Weeks continues to grow and feed more of our neighbors in need,” said Mark Jackson, Chief Development Officer at the Central Texas Food Bank. “These results are a testament to what a caring community Austin is and what we can accomplish when we come together to fight hunger. I want to thank all of our sponsors, the participating restaurants and bars, and everyone out there who dined and drank for a cause during Austin Restaurant Weeks.”
Hunger is a serious issue here in Central Texas, where 1 in 7 of our neighbors can’t be sure where their next meal will come from. The Food Bank can turn every dollar donated into 4 meals. So every dollar helps.
Austin Restaurant Weeks will be back in 2020, running from August 13 through August 30.
In addition to Tito’s® Handmade Vodka, Austin Restaurant Weeks 2019 sponsors included The Austin Chronicle, Bank of America, Becker Vineyards, Bell’s Brewery, CultureMap Austin, Delta Air Lines, Domain NORTHSIDE, Edible Austin, Fairmont Austin, Farmhouse Delivery, Honey Bear Digital, ProductionFor, Reagan Outdoor Advertising, Screamer Co., and W. Hamilton & Co., PLLC.
