Thank You, George, for your Years of Service!

When George put on his yellow hat, Food Bank staff knew that his volunteer shift was over. Twice a week, he made his way to a volunteer cubicle. The sign outside read George Hermes and he was one of the few volunteers who had their own cubicle.

After donating 3,000 hours over the past 11 years at the Food Bank through Coming of Age Austin, George has retired from his volunteerism. An hour of of volunteer time is worth $24.14, so by donating his time, George helped the Food Bank provide an additional 289,680 meals.

Thank you, George, for your astounding passion to fighting hunger!

During his volunteer stint, George worked with our resource development team helping in an administrative capacity.

"We’ve relied on George for many years to help us complete a wide array of projects. From preparing mailings to cleaning up donor records, George has made a huge impact on the work of the Food Bank," Food Bank Database and Stewardship Manager Ann Symmonds said.

We are honored to have been able to work with such an incredible and admirable volunteer.

George will be dearly missed at the Food Bank and we can’t thank him enough for his dedication to helping others.

"We greatly appreciate all hard work he has done for us over the years and for his unrelenting support in the fight against hunger. Thank you for your service George!" Ann said.

We wish you a happy retirement George!
