A New Chapter Starts Here: Celebrating Our October 2026 Workforce Training Graduates
There's no single path to a new career. Sometimes it begins with an unexpected change. Sometimes it's the chance to pursue a longtime passion. And sometimes, it's simply the desire to learn something new.
For the Central Texas Food Bank's October 2026 Workforce Training graduates, those different paths have led to a shared milestone: completing hands-on training and preparing for what's next.
This graduating class brings together adults with different backgrounds, experiences and career goals. What they share is a willingness to keep learning, take on new challenges and build skills that can open doors to new opportunities.
Turning Change Into Opportunity
For one Culinary Arts graduate, an unexpected layoff became an opportunity to pursue a career she'd always wanted.
Rather than returning to her previous field, she enrolled in the Central Texas Food Bank's Culinary Arts Training Program to develop her cooking skills and prepare for a future in the culinary industry. Her ambition? To work aboard a cruise ship, combining her love of cooking with the opportunity to travel the world.
Another graduate, a retired veteran who recently moved to Texas, saw the program as an opportunity to continue developing his skills while exploring his next career move. With a desire to remain active, learn and find meaningful work, he embraced the chance to return to the classroom.
Their experiences reflect something that connects many adult learners: the understanding that professional growth doesn't have to follow a straight line.
Whether someone is entering a new industry, returning to the workforce or exploring a longtime interest, learning new skills can help make the next chapter possible.
Building Skills for What's Next
The Central Texas Food Bank's Workforce Training Program helps unemployed and underemployed adults develop practical skills for careers in two industries: culinary arts and warehouse operations.
Through hands-on instruction, students gain experience in professional environments while developing the technical skills and workplace knowledge needed to pursue employment.
Our 10-week Culinary Arts Training Program introduces students to professional kitchen operations, food preparation, food safety and the skills used in commercial kitchens and food service careers.
Our six-week Warehouse & Logistics Training Program prepares students for opportunities in warehouse operations, inventory management and logistics, including hands-on equipment training.
Both programs offer more than technical instruction. They give students an opportunity to build confidence, explore career possibilities and develop skills they can carry into their next role.

More Than Food: Creating Pathways to Greater Stability
When people think of the Central Texas Food Bank, they often think of food pantries and distributions. But increasing food access also means addressing some of the conditions that can make it difficult for households to afford nutritious food in the first place.
Employment and economic stability are important parts of that work.
Our Workforce Training Program connects adults with opportunities to develop career-ready skills in industries that support communities every day. By helping students prepare for employment and pursue new professional opportunities, the program is one way we're working to address the conditions that contribute to food insecurity.
For our October graduates, completing their training is an important milestone. Their next chapters will look different, but each leaves with new skills, practical experience and possibilities to explore.
Congratulations to our October 2026 graduates. We look forward to seeing where your curiosity and determination take you next.
