Free Summer Meal Help for Families

Jun24

When school ends, so do breakfast and lunch programs, leaving many families scrambling to fill the gap. But help is available this summer.

What Families Should Know

We offer free summer meals through our Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). These meals are available in nearby schools, parks, libraries, churches, and more; no sign-up, ID, or proof of income is needed. Families can just show up during posted times and pick up healthy meals for kids and teens through the age of 18.

Site Types Made Simple

Congregate Sites: Kids eat on-site in a safe, supervised setting, with occasional activities like games or reading time. Parents are welcome to join too.

Rural Non-Congregate Sites: These are tailored for areas without easy access; meals are available at central pickup points. Distrubutions will occur biweekly.

Why It Matters

And here's the real impact: for many Central Texas families stretched thin this summer, these meals mean peace of mind and full plates. In Central Texas, 1 in 4 kids face hunger in summer, nearly double the rate during the school year. Our summer programs bring nutritious meals right to children, rain or shine, fueling growth, learning, and summer adventures.

How You Can Use This

  • Look up days and times: Many sites run Monday-Friday, June – August.

Looking Ahead

Summer meals offer more than food; they provide connection, support, and community. Whether your family stops by a park, library, or rec center, you're not just feeding your child – you're bridging a gap, one nutritious meal at a time.
