Birds Barbershop “Haircuts Fighting Hunger” Campaign Raises $5,000 to Fight Hunger in Central Texas

Birds Barbershop celebrated the grand opening of its ninth location at 3601 William Cannon Drive in Austin by donating the first week’s proceeds of that store to the Central Texas Food Bank, raising $5,000 to provide meals for Central Texans in need.

The “Haircuts Fighting Hunger” campaign encouraged Austin-area residents to kick off the New Year at Birds Barbershop on William Cannon with a haircut while helping to fill the pantries of families across Central Texas. Patrons could also make monetary donations at the register from Friday., Jan. 13 through Friday., Jan. 20, 2023.

“Partnerships with local businesses like Birds Barbershop play a vital role in filling the pantries of our neighbors in need just after the holiday season when the shelves can be a little bare,” said Mark Jackson, Chief Development Officer of the Central Texas Food Bank. “We can accomplish great things when the community comes together to serve those in need. Our thanks go out to Birds and to everyone who helped fight hunger by getting a haircut during the campaign.”

“We’re thrilled to kick off the new year by bringing our high-quality brand of haircuts to a new neighborhood – and to help fight hunger in the process,” says Chelsea Hadden, President of Birds Barbershop. “This partnership was a wonderful opportunity to help our clients look and feel their best, while also putting food on the table for fellow Austinites in need.”

Hunger is a serious issue here in Central Texas, where 437,000 of our neighbors can’t be sure where their next meal will come from and where they face a constantly rising cost of living.
