The Volunteer Leader program aims to engage energetic and committed volunteers in the mission of the Food Bank by serving as representatives and advocates in our community. Volunteer Leaders engage in the Food Bank’s programs by providing operational support to staff, and deliver training and stewardship to public volunteers during their shifts. Volunteer Leaders also have the opportunity to attend the Food Bank’s community events during regular business hours, at night, or on weekends.
The Food Bank has a need for Volunteer Leaders in the following areas:
Do you want to use your green thumb to fight hunger? The Food Bank Production and Learning Garden is a 1-acre urban farm on Food Bank property. The Garden Volunteer Leader will help lead other volunteers
while gaining firsthand experience in organic gardening. Download the PDF to learn more.
Do you want to hone your culinary and organizational skills to fight hunger? The Food Bank kitchen is a 4200 sq. ft. commercial kitchen equipped with large-scale production equipment that we use to make meals for those in need.
The Kitchen Volunteer Leader will work with volunteers to help produce about 700 meals per day during the school year and 3,000 meals and snacks per day during the summer months. Download the PDF to learn more.
As a Warehouse Volunteer Leader, you will be instrumental in working with public volunteers to ensure all the food we distribute is safe, healthy and high quality for our clients in need. You’ll lead volunteers, helping them learn to inspect, clean, sort, box and prepare food donations to be ready for distribution to our Partner Agencies and the families they serve. Do you enjoy meeting new faces- and leading groups of people from all walks of life? Every year, the Food Bank manages over 25,000 public volunteers and corporate groups who help us sort food donations in our warehouse, prep meals in our kitchen and plant nutritious crops in our garden. As a Volunteer Representative, you will positively motivate and encourage all volunteers who serve at the Food Bank while offering an experience that leaves a lasting impression.
