Hunger Action Month in September raises awareness and mobilizes the public to take action on the issues of hunger. In Central Texas, one in six individuals face hunger and one in five kids don’t know where their next meal will come from. That’s why we’re asking you to take action to fight hunger. Here are some easy and delicious ways to make a difference during Hunger Action Month:
Snooze Bacon Day
Celebrate Bacon Day on September 1! What better way to celebrate than by giving back. On this day, Snooze Eatery North and South Lamar will donate 10 percent of the day’s sales to the Food Bank. To make it even more special, they’ll be unveiling three, bacon inspired dishes for the day and having a contest to win a year’s worth of Tender Belly bacon. Get more information on how to win the bacon here.
California Pizza Kitchen Pizza with a Purpose
Indulge in some pizza and make a difference for our neighbors facing hunger. When you dine at California Pizza Kitchen at the Domain or Barton Creek Mall locations from September 17-23, they’ll donate 20 percent of your check to the Food Bank. Purchases include dine-in, takeout, catering and all beverages. All you have to do is show your server this flyer or tell them you’re there to support the Food Bank.
BoxLunch Give some. Give Back
BoxLunch, a specialty retailer offering licensed pop culture merchandise, is fighting hunger alongside Feeding America and their network food banks, including the Central Texas Food Bank. With every $10 spent in-store or online, BoxLunch will help provide a meal to an individual. You can make an even bigger impact by rounding up your charge or making a donation at checkout.
Fighting hunger is sweet thanks to the Cheesecake Factory. For each slice of their new Very Cherry Ghirardelli® Chocolate Cheesecake sold through February 28, 2019, the Food Bank will receive a donation to help feed Central Texans in need.
