Since 2008 Canstruction Austin has been one of the most creative food drives in our community each year. This is a design-build competition and showcase in which teams create elaborate sculptures made entirely of canned food. The teams compete for awards while showcasing their creativity, ingenuity and generosity toward those in in need of hunger relief.
Each year, through canned food and cash donations, the event brings awareness to food insecurity in our community. This year, teams led by local architects, engineers and builders will have 12 hours to build their larger than life sculptures out of canned goods at Barton Creek Square Mall on April 27.
While some teams will go home with bragging rights, all will go home winners knowing the food will go a long way to nourish hungry Central Texans. The sculptures will be on display at the mall beginning April 27. Vote for your favorite display at the mall through May 19.
