Position Overview

Reporting to the Director of Network Programs, the Senior Programs Manager leads a team that works to support existing and implement new programming that serves Seniors. This includes managing and successfully operating the CSFP and HOPE programs. This position is integral to ending hunger in our 21 county service area by working with both internal and external stakeholders including a network of partners.  Outreach, grant management and reporting are associated with this role and program focus, as is a general understanding of policy, federal and state guidelines for the support of special populations. This position plays a key role in building relationships with existing Food Bank Program Partners, identifying new strategic partnership opportunities, as well as tracking and reporting on programing deliverables. 

Relationships

Building and maintaining collaborative and meaningful relationships is a core component of this position. Internally, this role must nurture strong connections with colleagues on various teams but especially with the Network Services, Logistics, Warehouse, and Food Industry departments. Proven and demonstrated professionalism and effective communication skills to achieve goals are necessary for this role.

Your Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in Public Policy, Social Work, Business
  • 4+ years of experience supervising regular full-time paid staff, including experience providing effective training, supervision and delegation to others.
  • Experience effectively developing and cultivating partnerships; from identifying a good fit to evaluating ways to improve an existing relationship.
  • The ability to organize and manage multiple projects under aggressive timelines. Change doesn’t derail your day, you roll with it.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; good judgment and discretion; strong ethical character capable of handling confidential information.
  • High emotional intelligence and ability to work within both ‘the forest’ - vision/direction - and ‘the trees’ – attention to detail - of any project.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and effectively with both colleagues and volunteers in a collaborative environment.
  • Think outside the box, are flexible when things change suddenly and are able to stay focused on reaching your goals.
  • Make decisions in the best interest of families and the community we serve.
  • Actively support organization’s values, goals and objectives by leading by example and demonstrate support of organizational message without blaming other departments, leaders or providing personal opinions.

  • Proven mastery using Microsoft Office Suite of products
  • Valid Government Issued Driver’s License and proof of insurance.

Your Responsibilities

  • Effectively manage and coach the Senior Programs team and provide supportive and developmental feedback to enhance performance. Ensure that team members develop the technical, leadership and professional skills necessary for success. Set performance goals for team members that align to CTFB’s strategy, and evaluate performance against goals on a regular basis.
  • Develop a high-performance team culture focused on leadership and accountability at all levels, continuous learning, collaboration, measurement, and goal achievement by modeling the way and enabling others to act.
  • Manage the training of the Network of Partner Agencies in food safety, data reporting, privacy requirements, ordering practices, and have the tools and resources necessary to maintain a successful partnership with the CTFB. This includes assisting in the development of a comprehensive Partner Agency training and technical assistance plan.
  • Manage CTFB’s two Senior Programs - the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) and Healthy Options Program for the Elderly (HOPE) – including overseeing day to day activities such as inventory tracking and direct distributions.
  • Cultivate relationships with existing Program Partners providing them with ongoing outreach and communication.
  • Identify and develop new partnership relationships to continue to meet program goals and objectives
  • Manage the routine monitoring of Program Partners – reviewing for compliance with national and federal guidelines as well as providing technical and strategic support
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in CSFP/TEFAP/TDA commodity programming and support team in ensuring partners are in adherence.
  • Support the expansion of CTFB’s programming related to serving Seniors and other program areas of focus.
  • Assist with the management and day to day operation of program budgets, including tracking expenses related to government and grant funding.
  • Serve as a liaison with the TDA on behalf of the Senior’s programs including during site reviews.
  • Support all Network and Client services and programs through direct distribution as needed.

Working Conditions

  • Hours of Operation: Generally Monday-Friday 8am-5pm, some evening and weekend hours may be required especially during peak times, disaster response, or holidays.
  • Environment: This position requires sitting for long periods of the time, utilizing computers, laptops, and other technology, and may include working at distribution sites outside. The position also requires working alone and with others on a team.
  • Travel: CTFB serves 21 counties in central Texas and often requires same-day travel between counties, using a personal vehicle, CTFB passenger fleet and possibly occasional out of town travel for meetings, special events or meeting for some positions.
