Position Overview

Reporting to the Director of Network Services and managing a program of 4+ team members with three direct reports, the Community Distribution Manager assists with the development, expansion, and success of external distributions including Mobile Pantry and Food Fair programs. This position is integral to ending hunger in our 21 county service area by working with both internal and external stakeholders including a network of partners.  Outreach, grant management and reporting are associated with this role, as is a general understanding of policy, federal and state guidelines for the support of food distributions. The ideal candidate must possess successful experience in management of team members, management of programs with adherence to compliance and regulatory standards, and the ability to lead and nurture capacity building.

Relationships

Building and maintaining collaborative and meaningful relationships is a core component of this position. Internally, this role must nurture strong connections with colleagues on various teams specifically Network Services, Logistics, Warehouse, and Food Industry departments. Proven and demonstrated professionalism and effective communication skills to achieve goals are necessary for this role as a leader of team members and department.

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Social Work, Education, or related area; Master’s preferred.
  • 5+ years of related leadership experience, including team member supervision and management.
  • Experience with partnerships and working with community-based organizations.
  • Knowledge of central Texas and its network of services for low-income families.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute program goals strategically while consistently evaluating processes/practices for improvements.
  • Comfort and experience working with people from diverse ethnic, socioeconomic, and religious backgrounds.
  • Experience with federal feeding programs including TEFAP and TDA
  • Ability to work with, communicate with, influence, and motivate others.
  • Ability to take initiative and see projects through from start to finish.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines and priorities.
  • Ability to submit accurate and timely applications to ensure program and organizational success.
  • Strong customer service orientation – both organizational and interpersonal. Ability to develop and maintain collaborative and professional relationships.
  • Experience successfully administering multi-faceted client-based programs within budget and on-time.
  • Experience developing innovative client-focused strategies and leading successful execution, in a dynamic, highly collaborative environment.
  • Strong experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Your Responsibilities

  • Effectively manage and coach the external distributions team and provide supportive and developmental feedback to enhance performance. Ensure team members develop technical, leadership and professional skills required for success. Set performance goals for team members that align to CTFB’s strategy, and evaluate performance against goals on a regular basis.
  • Develop a high-performance team culture focused on leadership and accountability at all levels, continuous learning, collaboration, measurement, and goal achievement by modeling and enabling others to act.
  • Maintain productive relationships with program partners and monitoring sites to ensure compliance with all program guidelines.
  • Coordinate any changes needed to the program based on current events or needs, including any new site additions, changes, or closures.
  • Maintain a high level of internal communication to ensure successful program delivery to include inventory, reschedules, expansion planning, food sourcing needs, etc. – on an ongoing basis
  • Oversee program timelines and goals to ensure completion of programmatic deliverables.
  • Assist with the management of the annual budgets for external distribution programs, including overseeing the use of restricted grant funding.
  • Provide oversight of special partnerships related to the mobile pantry program to include managing the implementation of new initiatives and partnerships.
  • Handle client grievance process for claims specific to Mobile Pantry and Food Fair program partners.
  • Ensure program partner training and capability needs are met either in a large groups setting or separately on an as needed basis.
  • Serve as liaison between partner sites, government entities, and those involved with the implementation of our programs; to include coordinating with school districts, child advocates, program sponsors and others involved with providing service to underserved populations.
  • Provide reporting and documentation assistance to partner sites to ensure the accurate and timely reporting of attendance, product counts, etc. Maintain and track all qualifying paperwork of partner sites.
  • Conduct outreach initiatives to engage new partners, while coordinating with the Network Services team to bring on new sites including training and compliance with all policies and procedures.
  • Provide excellent customer service and communication to program sites including a timely response to phone calls and emails.
  • Represent CTFB as necessary at events and meetings, including but not limited to distributions.
  • Regular surveying of sites to assess product and program satisfaction and efficacy. This includes the creation, collection, and analysis of survey results.
  • Serve as an internal and external expert on government distribution programs, including but not limited to TEFAP ensuring that all food handling, storage, and distribution policies are met and executed within budget, on-time, and in accordance with applicable policies.
  • Identify key strategic partner relationships and conduct successful onboarding with new partners.
  • Support all Network and Client services and programs through direct distribution as needed. 
  • Assist with communication and response between CTFB and agencies in times of disaster.
  • Make decisions in the best interest of families and the community we serve.
  • Actively support organization’s values, goals and objectives by leading by example and demonstrate support of organizational message without blaming other departments, leaders or providing personal opinions.
  • Other duties as assigned, including utilizing language skills you possess for the benefit of the organization and its clients.

Working Conditions

  • Hours of Operation: Generally Monday-Friday 8am-5pm, some evening and weekend hours may be required especially during peak times, disaster response, or holidays.
  • Environment: This position requires sitting for long periods of the time, utilizing computers, laptops, and other technology, and may include working at distribution sites outside. The position also requires working alone and with others on a team.
  • Travel: CTFB serves 21 counties in central Texas and often requires same-day travel between counties, using a personal vehicle, CTFB passenger fleet and possibly occasional out of town travel for meetings, special events or meeting for some positions.
